Visa Types

Visas & Admission Schemes Available in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers several visa and admission schemes, each suited to a different profile of talent, employer or entrepreneur.

General Employment Policy (GEP) Visa

For skilled professionals with expertise not available locally. Applicants must have a confirmed job offer from a Hong Kong employer, and the role must demonstrate a genuine need for overseas talent. Employment terms, including salary, must meet Hong Kong standards. Issued for the contract duration and can be renewed.

Top Talent Pass Scheme (TTPS)

For highly skilled professionals and graduates from top universities worldwide. Applicants do not need a job offer, and must meet income or education criteria, with recent graduates subject to a quota. Successful applicants receive a 24-month stay to work, change jobs or start a business. Extensions require proof of employment or business activities in Hong Kong.

Quality Migrant Admission Scheme (QMAS)

For highly skilled individuals evaluated through a points-based system considering qualifications, work experience and achievements. Applicants do not need a job offer but must meet specific eligibility criteria and compete for a limited annual quota. Successful applicants can live and work in Hong Kong.

Admission Scheme for Mainland Talents and Professionals (ASMTP)

Allows skilled professionals from Mainland China with expertise not available locally to work in Hong Kong. This scheme supports various industries and has no quotas, enabling flexible opportunities for applicants.

Entrepreneur Visa (Investment as Entrepreneurs)

For business owners and startup founders seeking to boost Hong Kong's economy. Applicants must present a business plan outlining key economic benefits, including job creation and industry growth. Approved individuals can establish or join a business in the city.

Technology Talent Admission Scheme (TechTAS)

Helps technology firms bring in R&D professionals from abroad to work in Hong Kong. Employers must secure a quota and hire local tech talent as part of the requirements — supporting the city's growing tech ecosystem and its position as a regional hub for technology and research.
