Visa Types

Visas & Permits Available in Indonesia

Indonesia's work permit and residence system moves through a few key stages, each with its own requirements.

Work Permit (IMTA)

Foreign employees are required to have a work permit known as an Ijin Mempekerjakan Tenaga Kerja Asing (IMTA), which the employer must apply for on behalf of the employee. This permit allows the foreign worker to legally undertake employment in Indonesia.

Izin Tinggal Terbatas (ITAS)

A temporary stay permit that allows the holder to reside in Indonesia for up to one year, with the possibility of annual renewals for up to four years. The ITAS itself doesn't grant employment rights unless paired with an IMTA.

Kartu Izin Tinggal Tetap (KITAP)

A permanent stay permit available to those who have previously held an ITAS for a continuous period of three years. The KITAP allows for a longer stay and is valid for five years, significantly simplifying long-term residence and employment in Indonesia.
