Divided into three categories based on salary and contract duration: Category I is valid up to five years for those earning RM10,000+ per month, Category II up to two years for RM5,000–RM9,999, and Category III, for contracts under 12 months, applies to RM3,000–RM4,999.

For semi-skilled workers in sectors such as manufacturing, construction, plantation, agriculture and services. Valid for up to one year and renewable annually for up to ten years. Foreign Domestic Helpers (FDH) also qualify, though eligibility is limited to women aged 21–45 from approved countries. Employers must secure quota approvals and the necessary documentation.

Allows foreign professionals employed by overseas companies to work temporarily in Malaysia for up to 12 months — ideal for consultants, guest lecturers, artists and film crews. Unlike other permits, the PVP requires a local sponsor instead of an employer and is restricted to temporary assignments. Dependents are not permitted.

Part of the DE Rantau Program, welcoming remote professionals — including freelancers and digital marketers — to work in Malaysia for 3 to 12 months, renewable for another year. Applicants must meet an annual income threshold of USD24,000 and work in fields such as IT, digital marketing or content creation.

Allows foreign professionals to work in Malaysia for critical or urgent tasks such as emergency repairs or installations. Valid for up to 30 days and limited to specific sectors such as construction, manufacturing and healthcare. Applicants must provide a detailed job description and work schedule.
